ARTISTS AGAINST POVERTY is not a profit making organisiation. All donations made are put towards the MAKE POVERTY HISTORY campagin.
All images featured on the site are copywrite to the artist themselves and can be reached though the artist contact list.
With the focus for MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY on music events such as Live 8 and Band Aid etc, it seemed as though the rest of the art world was some what 'missing out' on an opertunity of a life time. Here was a chance for artists to put their skills to use in order to make a difference in the world.
The idea came, late June 2005, to produce some form of site in which artists of different mediums could express, develop and promote their feelings on the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY campaign. A site which could also be used to raise both awareness and funds for charities asociated with the campaign.
The idea would be that others could view the work of artists and hopefully be moved to make a donation either through the site or straight to their nearest MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY charity. It was also thought that artists make be able to be sponsered to create pieces of work, either large or small with again would go to a charity organisation.
Poverty is a global problem. Less than twenty percent of the world’s people hold over eighty percent of the wealth. One person dies every three seconds because of problems related to extreme poverty.
And the worst part of it is that most of these deaths are preventable.
Now is your chance to make a difference. Now is your chance to MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY.
